Travis Springfield

§ Travis Springfieldis a native Texan from the Austin area. Having always had a passion for the arts, Travis began classes in ballet, tap, jazz, and acting at the age of five. He remained active in band, choir, and theatre throughout his school-age years eventually majoring in Theatre at Texas State University and graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1991 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Acting. Some of his favorite roles include Hysterium in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing, and Benjamin in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. After a brief exploration of the film industry in Los Angeles, Travis returned to Texas and taught theatre for nine years with Bishop ISD, Humble ISD, and Klein ISD. During his teaching career, Travis received numerous awards including Humble ISD Teacher of the Year, UIL One Act Play State Champion and two-time state finalist as well as multiple state and national finalists in UIL, TFA, and NFL competition.

Completing his Masters of Counseling in 2003, he became a counselor at Kingwood HS in Humble ISD. After only two years with Kingwood, he was chosen to open Atascocita HS as its lead counselor directly supervising a staff of 15 and coordinating master schedule and counseling programs for a student body of 3300. Travis comes to HSPVA from the HISD central office where he has worked for the last two and half years as the Manager of UIL Academics overseeing all music, theatre, speech, and academic UIL extra-curricular activities at over 100 K-12 campuses. Travis continues his work in theatre serving on the State UIL Advisory Committee as well as the Administrative Committee of the One Act Play Adjudicator's organization. He is a respected and sought after One Act Play judge and clinician having been selected to judge the State One Act Play contest in Austin Texas as well as three Regional OAP contests. In his free time, you might find Travis reading a good novel, photographing European capitals, or exploring the antique and thrift stores on Westheimer Ave.
